Writing an eBook can seem like a daunting task, but it really doesn’t have to be. With the right information and tools, you can easily learn how to create your own eBook. Here are my top tips to help you get started:
Choose a topic that you know. – The easiest way to write an eBook is to base it on a topic you are familiar with. Of course, you’ll want to make sure the topic is also a viable one, but you can easily research this online. If at all possible, write about a topic you are familiar with when getting started with your first eBook.
Write in plain English. – There’s a misconception that you need to be an experienced author to write an eBook. But this isn’t the case. Writing online is very different than traditional methods of writing. Online writing requires a down-to-earth and “plain English” approach. You can easily do this by writing how you speak. Write as though you were chatting to a good friend over coffee. All that really matters is that your information is valuable and will solve the reader’s problems.
Record an interview. – If you’re nervous about creating a full eBook from scratch, a good option is to record an audio interview with an industry expert in your niche. Then simply transcribe the audio and sell the transcript and audio as your product. This is very easy way to create content, and it’s just a matter of contacting experts in your niche until one agrees to participate.
Record your thoughts. – Some people find it easier to speak than to write. If this is you, grab a mini voice recorder and record your thoughts. Once you create your audio, transcribe it then use that “raw” transcript as a starting point for your eBook. Go through the transcript, editing it and making it flow better. This is a quick and super easy way to create an eBook.
Hire a ghost writer. – Still not ready to create your own eBook? Or find that you simply don’t have the time? Then hiring a ghost writer is a great option for you. But before you hire someone, check out his or her references and previous samples of his or her work. Consider having a trial run by giving the writer a small test project. This way you can gauge the writer’s level of work with minimum commitment.
Writing an eBook doesn’t have to be difficult. The main thing is to “just do it.” Like many tasks, it can seem daunting at first. But starting is always the biggest hurdle. Once you start, things may not seem so bad after all.
