Have you noticed that online competition is getting a little more aggressive? In these tough economic times, business owners need to keep their customers coming to them instead of the competition. Now is the right time to start winning over your online customers with these handy tips:
1. Your company’s online presence – An attractive website, informative content, and easy website navigation are points of concern when it comes to your business’ online presence. While you want to attract potential customers to your website, you don’t want its design to be too overwhelming. Your website name is a great tool on its own, as long as it represents the correct image for your business.
The information you provide on your website should be easy to understand yet as complete as possible. The facts need to be accurate while the language needs to flow easily. And remember to be concise. Don’t use two pages when one is enough.
Finally, be sure your website’s layout and navigation are as simple as possible. It should be easy for your clients to go from point A to point B without clicking on five different links to get there. Include direct links to select areas of your website. And a site map could be the difference between an easy sale and a frustrated client who leaves your website without making a purchase.
2. Exclusive discounts – Regular coupons could keep your clients coming back for more. Use coupons with a little bit of pop in their design but with a lot of value to your customers. “Buy 2 get 1 free” sales and post-holiday discounts can entice your shoppers. If you have a brick-and-mortar store, host a “bring a friend day” where customers on your email list receive a 30 percent discount that day if they bring a friend. The friend receives a lower percentage discount for leaving his or her contact information at the point of sale.
3. Members-only promotions – Advanced notices of upcoming product launches are great, but you can make them even better by having a pre-sale price cut promotion. Just make sure you tell customers this special is only for members of your email list. You could sweeten the deal by hosting a “members only” after-hours sale where a percentage of the sales is given to a local charity. With this type of event, the members of your email list not only profit from your sale but also know they are helping a neighborhood charity at the same time.
