Do you think your website content always needs to be freshly written? The truth is, you can create a lot of content by using other sources. Here are several suggestions:
1. Testimonials from satisfied customers – Make it a habit to request feedback from your customers when you send your first invoice. Send a short questionnaire to get a few sentences you can add to a testimonials page on your website. Or use a testimonial plugin that helps you create an automatic testimonial that your customers can post themselves. My two favorite plugins are Handsome Testimonials and Sola Testimonials.
2. Interview movers and shakers in your industry – A simple way to create content is to interview people who are making an impact in your industry. You can turn the interview into a podcast, transcribe it into a blog post, or even make it into a short Kindle book.
3. Collect expert guest blog posts – Ask other experts in your niche to educate your audience through guest blog posts. You may be able to get guest posts for free. But if you offer payment, you’re more likely to get better quality, original guest blog posts.
4. Interview complementary experts – To get even more content for your website, go outside your niche by interviewing complementary experts who market to your audience but are not competition to you. For instance, if you are a real estate agent, consider interviewing interior designers, landscape professionals, or mortgage brokers. Again, you can record the interviews, create podcasts from the interviews, or transcribe them.
5. Combine blog posts to create an eBook or an eReport – Use the plugin Anthologize to combine several blog posts into a useful report that you can give away or sell.
6. Repurpose eBook or eReport chapters – While you can use blog posts to make an eBook or an eReport, you also can do the opposite. Rewrite and reorganize some of the chapters of your books or reports into single blog posts.
7. Create a video using blog posts as the script – Video quickly has become an important online content format. They are relatively easy to create, especially if you use content you’ve already created in previously published blog posts. You can add the videos directly to your website, on YouTube, or inside a membership site. You even can create an online workshop with your educational videos.
8. Use screenshots – If you have any “how to” posts, add screenshots to make them more helpful for your readers. Use the Snipping Tool on your computer or software like Snagit to take a screen shot. Demonstrating how to do something will help your audience understand it better.
9. Publish private label rights (PLR) content – If you’re stuck on what to write, buy some PLR about the topic. Be sure to rewrite it so it sounds like an original blog post or article you wrote yourself.
10. Hire a ghostwriter – Find a ghostwriter to supply regular, researched, and updated content for your site. Ghostwriters research and write content based on your specifications in the voice you prefer, then they sell you all the rights to it. You can put your name on the content and establish yourself as a sought-after expert.
